Pence mentioned that President Trump has asked the U.S. representative responsible for negotiations with Iran to engage in discussions "in good faith," but also stated that Trump is "eager to see progress."

He also stated that the U.S. is prepared to use "extraordinary economic leverage," but Trump has instructed the U.S. side to "not use these means for the time being."
